intro to pilates equipment classes

if you are curious about our equipment classes, or if you prefer to practice at a slower pace and more introductory level, this is the class for you! we offer this intro every sunday and also as a pop up class on occaision. plan to work for a full hour on basic pilates exercises on the reformer and tower. the pace is slow and explanatory with hands on adjustments and plenty of verbal cues. we'll help you find the appropriate set up for different movements so that you can feel the right amount of challenge and support.

pilates mixed equipment

all of our pilates equipment classes are now "mixed level" unless otherwise noted. we will teach to the median level while giving suggestions for making the exercises more accessible or more challenging. in each class there is a possibility of practicing on the reformer (with or without the jumpboards), the tower, and/or the chairs.

mat pilates magic circle

mat pilates

this is the floor work version of the pilates method exercises. we teach a combination of classical and contemporary mat pilates. it is a low impact form of exercise that focuses on small, precise, movements originating from the core. these movements work every muscle in the body in an efficient manner, and are paired with focused breathing patterns. pilates aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment, flexibility, and body/mind awareness.

muscle up

consider this your introduction to strength training! this class is perfect for anyone looking to build confidence, improve posture, and gain strength one rep at a time. each class will bridge the mind-body connection of pilates and yoga with the empowering benefits of resistance training.

bring balance to your pilates and yoga practice by adding strength training into your routine. this beginner friendly class introduces you the fundamentals of weight training in a supportive environment. you'll learn proper form, safe lifting techniques, and how to build strength that enhances posture, stability, and everyday movement. with a focus on alignment and control, you'll gain confidence using dumbbells, resistance bands, and bodyweight exercises.

upward dog vinyasa yoga flow

flow yoga

this mixed level vinyasa class has sun salutations at it’s core, but, the pace, poses and focus of the practice will shift to be in alignment with the energies and demands of each season (according to ayurveda- yoga's sister science). there will always be plenty of suggestions for how to adapt your practice to make it more accessible, or more challenging.  as always, do what you can and don't worry about the rest! emphasis is placed on the flowing of breath with movement which assists us in being fully present. plenty of time will be left at the end of practice to unwind and relax, leaving you glowing from the inside out!

slow and steady yoga

this class is appropriate whether you are new to practicing yoga or are a seasoned yogi. the focus will be on setting the foundation of the poses, connecting to the breath, and exploring what comes up as we explore both movement and steadiness. we'll take time to get into the poses and well as take time to get out. some poses will be strung together, but flowing (vinyasa/sun salutations) will be minimal. there will be something for everyone to take away from this practice.

slow flow yoga

slow down and somatically shift your energy into weekend mode with this easy does it flow. we’ll begin the practice with an intentional, guided meditation that invites us to shake off the energy from the week before transitioning into steady, simple movement that creates the space for our bodies, minds, and souls to begin the recharging process. our practice will be guided by the collective energy of each week’s participant group leading us to move more energetically or to move more softly, perhaps even savoring a moment of total stillness with a yin pose before settling in for rest and integration.

vin & yin yoga

half movement, half stillness. in this class, we'll begin with a moderate vinyasa practice to warm the body and slightly fatigue the muscles. this will facilitate relaxation of the muscles so that we can more efficiently access the joints and connective tissue during our yin portion of the class. the yin segment is made up of passive floor based postures that are held for several minutes at a time to encourage deeper opening of the body and it's energy pathways (meridians). typically we work with traditional chinese medicine's 5 element theory and focus on the elements, meridians, and themes of each season..

new & full moon yoga

just like the moon and mother nature, our energy moves cyclically in ebbs and flows. move with the energy of the  moon in these classes. expect elements of yin yoga, gentle yoga, tapping, meditation, and energy work.  new moon classes work on planting the seeds of intention throughout the practice.  full moon classes help to release stagnant energy and clear space to invite new expansiveness.  both  nurture and align your body, mind, and soul with the lunar cycle.
